Walter's of Mamaroneck
A recent study suggests that eating a single hot dog can take 36 minutes off your life. To that, I say let's live a little and take a trip to Walter's Hot Dogs of Mamaroneck. And, since we will be cycling there those 36 minutes will be added back to your life as we meander through beautiful Westchester neighborhoods. We will meet at 110th and Lenox Ave. From there we will cycle a little over 37 miles or, one mile for each added minute of life, at a moderate pace. There will be one restroom break along the way with the most important stop being at Walter's at mile 25.8. After which we will return home on busy streets ending our ride at Woodlawn Avenue where you will have access to the #4 train or continue riding if you wish.
If you have never been to Walter's it is a Westchester institution and nationally registered historical landmark, serving their world-famous hot dogs since 1919. Walter's boast that their hot dogs are made of an exclusive blend of beef, pork, and veal. They are split down the middle, grilled in a "secret sauce," and served on a toasted bun with their signature mustard: a blend of choice mustard seeds, relish, and spices.
Other stuff that's also important: All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube or two, flat changing tools, sunscreen, snacks, hydration, and a bike in good working condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
Please 'unregister' if you cannot make the ride so waitlisted folks can move up and take the slot. If you are waitlisted, you will receive an email when a slot opens.
Rain at start either delays or cancels.
