Midweek Ride to Montauk
Let's head out east for a very special ride (Tia's first as a 5BBC Leader) from Hampton Bays to Montauk, a Montauk almost Half Century. The ride will meet at 10:00 AM at the Hampton Bays LIRR station parking lot. The start time allows folks time to get out there by car and carpools or via the LIRR, which has a train arriving at 10:00.
The ride is 48 or so mostly scenic, miles, including some beautiful areas by East Hampton and the fun rolling hills on Old Montauk Highway by Hither Hills with some great views towards the ocean. Ride is advanced moderate as we will keep a very steady pace with very, and very quick, limited stops. We must make it to Montauk in time for the 2:48 train heading back west. Riders may take the LIRR back to Hampton Bays to pick up cars, or may ride all the way back to Jamaica, Penn, Atlantic Terminal, or stations in between.
Any questions, please email me.
Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but given the time pressure to make the 2:48 train, please bring food, snacks and sufficient hydration to consume quickly during our limited stops. Have a good breakfast and have something with you to eat just before getting on the train heading back west. Most importantly bring an upbeat, inquisitive, bold attitude ready to explore and discover.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask for the train, LIRR train pass, money for the train, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
