Scout Ride: Poughkeepsie to New Paltz and Ulster Park
This will be an Upper Moderate Pace ride (12-15 mph on the flats) through the scenic, and hilly, landscapes of the Hudson Valley.
The ride will start at the Poughkeepsie train station, on Detective John Falcone Memorial Avenue, at 9:50am. We will cross the Walkway over the Hudson and then begin cycling from New Paltz to Ulster Park using quiet backroads.
While most of this route has been ridden before, we have not been into the town of Rosendale for lunch. We will cross over the Wallkill River by going over Perrine's Bridge, the second oldest covered bridge in NY State, and proceed to town to buy food from one of the lunch options, near mile 17. From there we will go back over the Wallkill River and continue to meander through backroads until we cross back over the Walkway over the Hudson and end back in Poughkeepsie.
If you’re arriving via Metro North, there is a train departing Grand Central at 7:45am, arriving at 9:48am. You will also need a bike pass.
For those driving, please park at 33 Main Street Parking in Poughkeepsie, there are elevators to get you to where we will start from.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube and tire levers, sunscreen, snacks, water bottles, and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
A Ride with GPS link will be provided the day before the ride to registered folks.
