In the Mood for Uzbek Food - The Nargis Cafe Ride
Manti, anyone? How about plov or lagman? If you haven’t experienced Uzbek food, you are in for a treat.
We won’t ask you to find Uzbekistan on a map, but if you are interested, it is a landlocked nation in Central Asia and former Soviet republic. It is best known for being on the route of the Silk Road, the ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean. Samarkand, a major city on the route, is home to landmark Islamic architecture.
Join us for a 25-mile ride to Nargis Café in Sheepshead Bay. We will tour the Southern Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bergen Beach, Mill Basin and Marine Park before arriving at our destination.
Participation is limited to 10 riders. If you are wait-listed, you will get an email when a slot opens.
Check your email before setting out. Any changes will be emailed to registered participants by 9:00PM the night before.
Ride starts and ends at Grand Army Plaza, at the entrance to Prospect Park
Lunch will be outdoors at Nargis Café just past mile 16.
Important: you must remove yourself from the list (or email ride leader firstname.lastname@example.org) if you will not be riding. Failure to follow this instruction could get you restricted from signing up in the future.
Other stuff: Helmets are required on all 5BBC rides. Make sure your bike is in good working condition. Bring a spare tube, sunscreen and snacks. Bring a face covering for use when indoors.
