Ride to Lobster (Via Beach) 2021 Edition
They will have great lobster at their typical great price: $39 for 3 1.25 lb lobsters! CHINA ORDERED A MILLION POUNDS OF LOBSTER FOR CHINESE NEW YEARS SO THE PRICES WILL BE HIGHER - FAIR WARNING (THURSDAY AFTERNOON PER OWNER)
Who is up for it? They have other low-volume options and great assortment of fish too.
We will be going along the beach in both directions so if the weather is to your liking you can end your ride anywhere along the way.
This will be another Happy Face / Moderate ride. I will be up front going as fast as I can (aka Moderate pace of 12-14 on the flats) but the sweep loves Happy Faces and is going to gladly sweep at whatever pace our slowest rider needs to go (hopefully in the 10-12 range on the flats). If you haven't been able to get far in spring training, you can use this ride to develop your distance.
And for the elevation junkies - this is not your ride. Not even 500 feet all the way out and back. Easy Peasy! (Let's just hope there is no wind or rain). It is mostly flat.
This ride will have two start points about 5 miles apart - both having nearby bathrooms. The ride will be 20/25 miles in one direction and similar distance back depending where you start/end. Details will be provided to those who register. Up to 12 with two leaders and we will add a second ride if we get more than that, but this is a Friday version of the ride so we expect it to be singular.
A nice long rest/dining stop at Jordan's for lobster lunch and the LIRR is only 1.3 miles from there rounding you up to 23 or 28 miles if you want to take public transit back.
And a total of just shy of 40 or 50 miles total if you choose to do it all and ride back with us - we will make the same two stops at the end as at the start.
Plus more bathroom stops as needed along the way not to worry.
All usual club rules apply - please wear helmet and have mask, we will dine outside in their back area where they have room for us to sit socially distant.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride and that the exact start location will be forwarded to the registered riders. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
