Perimeter Round the Island (Staten, that is)
Round and round we'll go - - counter clockwise, on this island borough. This will be a fun opportunity to add another part of the Perimeter Series, and a patch, to your belt!
Our route rolls us by some neat places along the way, including Miller Air Field, South Beach, the Battery, Alice Austen house, and National Lighthouse Museum.
Yes, early start, but also early back (estimate 1-2PM). We'll follow the waterfront as much as practical, with steady pacing, few stops, no hills. Paved roads with a few gritty parts, but what the heck; we're urban survivors! Repast break will be at Conference House Park, at about the 60% mark.
BYO lunch & snacks, but we'll also be doing a serious sandwich acquisition stop at Towne Deli, a fave from prior rides (plus they're letting us use their restroom, which is a gem of a find since so few public RRs are available these days). Also tote 2 water bottles (large if possible); plus whatever needed to keep your bike going (including 2 tubes and inflation means). Do read and follow safe cycling guides from this club, including masks.
Cue sheet and meet place will be emailed to registered riders. Start location is in (very) south Manhattan.
