Erik and Mel were just sitting around talking about routes in the Bronx. What were our favorite ways to get places? What are some of the new trails? So we dreamed up this collaborative ride through some of the new bike trails. We hit the now open pathway on the far side of the Bronx River from Starlight Park, where we cross a brand new bridge. We ride on the newly designed Sheridan bike trail. And we use the contentious Morris Park Avenue trail, fought for by our Bx pal Kevin DeLoia. But, much of the ride is the good ol' Bronx Parks Ride that takes us through Starlight Park, Soundview Park, Classon Point Trail, and Pugsley Creek Park. And in honor of Kevin, we stop at the waterfall in Bronx Park. There is a lot of scenic riding along the shores of The Bronx. Lunch will be in Parkchester where there is a choice of Mexican, Indian or Pizza.
Bring the standard items that you would take on any winter ride. Lunch is relatively late in the ride so bring snacks if you get hangry. Remember - night drops like a hammer these days so make sure to take lights just in case. Speaking of which, check the web site in case of inclement weather.
