The Phil O'Reilly Memorial/Birthday Ride
Special Note: This Ride is full! Online registration has closed. On the day Phil would have turned a young 72, we celebrate his amazing life with an easy jaunt in Queens, visiting a few of the legendary places that Phil himself often had on his cue sheets, including a rather odd street near downtown Flushing, the Kissena Park pond for turtle viewing, the site of the former Cresthaven Country Club where Phil always said he got his first hickey, and maybe a mention of Malba. In true Phil style, we will saunter along perhaps a bit faster than molasses. Lunch is at one of our favorite bike-friendly venues, Fillmore's Tavern, which Phil quite possibly discovered, and where arrangements for a large crowd are in the works! We now have over 20 confirmed attendees! Lunch will include an "Open Bar" (beer, wine, soda, top shelf) with all meal expenses paid by an anonymous donor!. If attendees wish to contribute towards lunch, all such money will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, one of Phil's favorite charities. Special Note: due to advance restaurant plans, this event will be held rain or shine. If the weather is poor at start time, we plan to wait it out and possibly do a shortened route. Please register online or contact Sharon Behnke at firstname.lastname@example.org or Ted Kushner (email@example.com) by Wed, April 18 so we can give the restaurant an attendee count.
