The 5BBC Social in June will be at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar on June 6. We will be meeting at Grand Army Plaza at 7:30 for a leisurely ride to Williamsburg. Once at the Bazaar, there are things to do for everyone. Food? Of course, this is the 5BBC after all. Beer? Obviously. In addition, there are vendors selling cool artsy-fartsy stuff, ping pong, mini golf, and a host of other interesting things. So join with you fellow 5BBCers for this Riding Social. If you cannot be in the saddle, come anyway and schmooze. And…bring a friend.
Ride your bike to work on Friday, May 16th!
It's Bike-to-Work Day, organized by Transportation Alternatives
AM: Fueling Stations
PM: Bike Home From Work Party
It's the largest celebration for commuter cycling in the U.S.A.! Will you be there?
Families For Safe Streets, a grassroots organization made up of family members of people killed or seriously injured on our streets, is leading a Day of Action in Albany in support of a default 20 mph speed limit and more speed cameras in NYC. For details and to reserve your seat on the bus: http://tinyurl.com/kgtd2jp
Sometimes, even the best cyclist gets into an accident. We will be discussing what you should do at the scene of the accident, and how to make sure that you have access to any available coverage. We all know riders who have gotten tickets. How do you avoid them? What do you do if [or when] you get one? Important info for all cyclists. Finally, we will discuss what you can do as an advocate for cycling in NYC. How can YOU get involved in making NYC a better place to bike?
WHEN: Wednesday April 30th, 2014 TIME: 6:15 to 8:00 PM
WHERE: Westbeth Performance Center, 55 Bethune Street [off Washington] in Greenwich Village
SUBWAY: 1,2 to Sheridan Square or L to 8th Avenue, BIKE: Right off the Hudson Bike Trail. Parking is available.

Please join us in congratulating long-time 5BBC member Bob Castro on receiving the 2014 James Langergaard Spirit of Cycling Award presented by Transportation Alternatives at this year's annual member meeting!
Bob is an active member of the New York City cycling community and has volunteered his time for many programs including the upcoming Bike New York/5BBC Bike Cruise Rides.
Great job, Bob. We're proud of you!
Like last year, the number of participants will be very limited. Additionally, the Montauk Century will be a back to basics ride for current paid members only. Registration is on a first paid, first in basis - last year registration filled quickly.
There will be three mileage options of approximately 68, 100 and 135 miles. The cost of the ride which includes cue sheets, SAG, return transportation for you on the LIRR and transportation for your bike via truck is only $50.00. Like last year, we also hope to offer an option to purchase a limited edition jersey.
Last year's ride was a blast!
5BBC Socials are a great way to get together with other members off the bike and get to know each other better. Come to one of our planned socials and see New York's friendliest bicycle club in action.

- April 29th
- June 24th
- August 26th
- October 28th
Stay tuned for more details to follow about locations!
Membership in the Five Borough Bicycle Club is just $25 per year and dual membership (2 members/same household) is only $30 per year.
