There will be rest areas along the way, and an after-party in the Rockaways following the event. There are still time to sign up for the event, as well as volunteer marshal opportunities. Hey 5BBCers. Hanging in the City for the July 4th Weekend? We have now added a ride for Saturday. Rock Rock Rockaway Taco ride will leave from Grand Army Plaza on July 5th at 10:00. We will ride about 34 miles for some of the best tacos EVER. Hope that you can join us. See the web posting for more details. David MEL Meltzer and Eliz Peters are leading this shindig.

Hey Gang - I am the new Leader of the ride as Alfredo is unavailable. I need more beauty sleep than 'Fredo, so I will be moving the start of the ride back an hour. The former start was at the 8:30 Ferry Boat. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NOW BE TAKING THE 9:30 FERRY ACROSS. PLEASE BE AT THE FERRY TERMINAL AT 9:15 TO ALLOW THE NICE DOGGIES TO SNIFF YOUR BIKE.

The other change is that we will be going to Killmeyer's for Lunch ! You know that I love this place at the far end of Staten Island. We can park our bikes in the beer garden and all sit outside. So, come do the Staten Island Perimeter with us.

One of the helpful features of the new website is the ability of riders to register for a ride. By registering, you help the leaders have a better sense on attendance and whether they need to make any adjustments to the ride. You also give the leaders the opportunity to contact you via email in the event of a change in the ride or if it has to be cancelled, postponed or perhaps moved to a different start time/location. The more riders that use this feature the more useful it will become. It only takes a few seconds to register for a ride. All you need to do is click on the ride you want to attend and then click again on the register tab. Easy!!! Please give it a try in advance of your next ride. Thank you.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Turtle Ride Series has been postponed until 2015. However, most of the rides are still on the schedule, and welcome all turtles and all rabbits

OK, so you can't join us on the ride, but would love to go to the Social. Maybe you just got out of work and don't feel like biking in a suit or in heels. Maybe you still have not gotten around to fixing that pesky bottom bracket on your bike. Maybe you think ghosts come out after dark. Whatever the reason, you can still meet up with us at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar.

The Brooklyn Night Bazaar is located at 165 Banker Street at the corner of Norman. It is easily accessible via two subway lines. The G is closer; just get off at Nassau Street, walk to Norman and make a left. It is 4 blocks away. Or you can take the L to Bedford Ave, walk down 7th Street to the water and make a right on Wythe. When Wythe becomes Norman nine blocks later you are there. The bikes will be leaving Grand Army Plaza at about 7:45, so we anticipate arrival at 8:15 or so. If you need more information - check out their web page:

Whether you bike along with us, or meet us there, we hope to see you all at the Social. This promises to be a fun event.

This year the NYC Century Bike Tour will be held on Sunday, September 7th. (See As in previous years, the 5BBC again hosted a series of training rides for riders who plan to do the full 100-mile option. There's only one more training ride left before the big day, so this is your last chance.
