Moriches and Manorville
Forecast for Friday is for warm temps (for January). So let's do a fairly flat 38 mile quick ride with about 700 feet of elevation gain and no grade above 3.3%
The ride is accessible by both automobile and LIRR. We start at 9:30, and aim to be finished by around 2:00. The ride is an advanced moderate ride with no real bailouts, so please be able to ride 14mph or better on the flats. Pace on the flats will usually (other than some touring) be faster as an advanced moderate
A caveat: certain parts of the ride are new. Be prepared for a whoops or two.
Normally, we would stop and pick up lunch, but under the current circumstances, there will be no lunch stop, just a few compression stops where we can have a snack. If timing is right, we may have a brief stop at Nettie's if you want a sweet treat. So please bring your lunch for postride, snacks and sufficient hydration. Eat a good breakfast and don't forget snacks. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore new and unknown areas.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: A reminder that you must register for the ride and that the exact start location will be forwarded to the registered riders. Please 'unregister' if you can not make the ride so waited list folks can move up and take the slot. All riders should come equipped with a mask, hand sanitizer/wipes, a spare tube, sunscreen, snacks and a bike in good condition, as well as being familiar with the current criteria for riding with the Club.
