REVISED April 12th 11:30pm - Rain looks ready to end around 8am so it should be good to go by 9:30am. Check back 8am as we will CONFIRM or CANCEL at that time.
REVISED April 10th: PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL BE STARTING AT GREELEY Square Park along 6th Avenue between 32nd and 34th streets in Herald Square. Because of WTC Closures we will be taking the PATH AND CONNECTING ON JERSEY SIDE TO GET TO Newark Penn Station. We will ride to Bloomfield via the blossoms and then back to Newark Penn. Total of about 13 Happy Face Miles. For those who would like to ride more, we will have a group riding to Weehawken Ferry on the way back an additional 12 to make it a 25 mile total.
This is the menu of the State Street Diner where we will be ordering from to take out to a nearby picnic lunch. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your order and bring cash to cover so we can place the order on our way out so it is ready to eat by the time we arrive.
This is the annual Cherry Blossom ride, initiated in the 1970s by Irv Weisman, to enjoy the increasing number of blossoms in Branch Brook Park, Newark and Belleville, NJ. This park has more cherry trees than in Washington, DC and they add more every year. Bring your camera.
We will enjoy the blossoms for a while then head off for Bloomfield or Montclair, eating in a diner.
Meet at the bottom of the escalators at the World Trade Center PATH station at the ticket machines. (Lower level of the Occulus)
Cancellation conditions: Snowy or icy. Radar showing imminent or predicted precipitation during the ride. High wind warning.
