WE CRUISE THE HACKENSACK
A ferry across the Hudson, an elevator to the Palisades, a scenic view of the meadowlands, and an eco cruise along the Hackensack River. The cruise is compliments of Hackensack Riverkeeper, and is by donation. There are also kayaks to rent ($25 per paddle per kayak) as well as trails in the newly refurbished Laurel Hill Park (the Secaucus Junction NJ Transit station is nearby for those wanting to meet up with us at the park or to leave early). And for those looking to climb, there is Snake Hill nearby (check out the video of the climb), which will offer you a rewarding 360 view of the Meadowlands.
For lunch, we'll head over to Newark Avenue for an all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet at Vatan, and then pasteries at Casa Victoria Bakeshop. Return is either Path (Exchange Place) or nearby ferry (Paulus Hook).
MEET UP: 9:50 AM Midtown West 39 Street ferry terminal. (Ferry departs 10:10 AM.)
Note: RSVP me (Josh) if you are signing up for the eco cruise. I made reservations for 11 trippers, but need to confirm that number a week before with the Riverkeeper. So RSVP no later than Sunday, 9/30.
