Washington Crossing
Sunday, July 17, 2016 - 07:45

Ride the tow path once used to haul goods to Trenton and the rest of the world. We meet at The Main New Jersey Transit Waiting Room in Pennsylvania Station N.Y. at 7:45AM and depart for the Trenton Transportation Center just after 8:00AM aboard The New Jersey Transit train to Trenton. Our pace is relaxed (12 to 14mph) on our way to Lambertville for a special country kitchen luncheon. One of the places we pass is Washington's Crossing, a little noted mile marker along the way. But here something happened that changed human history for the good. General Washington crossed the Delaware with 5,400 troops, surprised a Hessian force celebrating Christmas at their winter quarters in Trenton and kept the American Revolution alive. We'll be enjoying the comradeship of our fellow cyclists and the extraordinary friendliness of the local folks along The Canal. Nature awaits to greet us and you'll love the environment. We expect to be back in The City prior to nightfall. The D&R Tow Path to Lambertsville N.J. and New Hope Pa. is 35 miles at an easy pace on hard pack; suitable for Road Bikes. We meet at The Main New Jersey Transit Waiting Room in Pennsylvania Station N.Y. We'll be enjoying Natures beauties and the comradeship of our friends and neighbors. There is also a great meal awaiting us in Lambertsville and some of the finest yogurt in New Hope. We'll be traveling round trip to Trenton N.J. and we'll be meeting at 7:45am departing just after 8:00am.
