Twin Peaks of Essex County
We'll visit the twin peaks of Essex County--Eagle Rock and Garrett Mountain. This ride has it all: 3,600+ feet of climbs yielding breathtaking vistas of New York City from the George Washington to the Verrazano Bridges; 15 miles of low traffic/car-free routes through Branch Brook, Saddle River and other parks; gorgeous Montclair estates that put the McMansions of Alpine to shame; and a visit to the renowned Bromilow chocolatier. Bring two spare tubes and air supply; water; money for chocolate and food (or a bag lunch); and a MetroCard or money for trainfare.
Advanced Moderate pace. Approximately 50 miles with two steep (~0.5 miles at 8%-12%) and several moderate climbs. Please be prepared to cruise at 16+ MPH on the flats. Climbs will be at your own pace, regroup at the top.
Meets World Trade Center at 9:30 a.m. for the PATH to Newark. NOTE: Ride ends at GW Bridge Bus Station.
