Figure 8 to and fro Smokey Joe's in Teaneck, NJ
This ride was conceived in response to a request by two club members who I met at a club social. They asked for a Moderate ride from Manhattan to Teaneck New Jersey to enjoy some kosher tex-mex BBQ deli and a friendly Sunday ride over the George Washington Bridge (GWB) into the town of Teaneck to this establishment. Smokey Joe's has options for Vegeterians and there are also several other eateries nearby in case you'd prefer an alternative. When you see the map that fit nicely on our one-page cue sheet, you will see that we avoid repitition, have some wonderful straightaways, and ride a nice figure 8 that will include some picturesque waterside flats and we go through nice residential areas as well. Learn more about Smokey Joe's here: http://smokeyjoesbbq.com/ Check out their menu and if you think you might join, please register for this ride so we have an idea of how many are coming and can have them reserve space for us (it's a pretty big place so they will accomodate however many we bring).
This ride will also be very attractive to those who joined the Brooklyn Hills ride which Gary Katz and I co-lead in August. Here's a chance to put what you learned into practise. Anyone wanting to try a few hills, should consider joining this ride. The pace will be moderate but you just can't do the GWB without approach hills on both sides - let's just say that Brooklyn Hills to Jersey/Fort Lee hills marks a significant graduation.
Let no one say the 5BBC is anything but responsive - bring on your ideas for new rides and we'll try to find ride leaders to make them happen!
