The
Tradition
Continues

It started in 1964 when two cyclists pedaled from New York City to Montauk. In 1968, ridership rose to 17, and hit a whopping 47 by 1970. From there, the Montauk Century, then sponsored by the Bicycle Committee of AYH (predecessor of the Five Borough Bicycle Club), became an annual event and one of New York's great bicycling traditions.

The tradition continues. For the 46th annual 5BBC Montauk Century, we anticipate that up to 2,000 cyclists will pedal the back roads from midtown Manhattan to the ocean at Montauk.

Why the 5BBC runs the best trip to Montauk

The Five Borough Bicycle Club has been riding to Montauk for 46 years. If it's the 3rd Sunday in May, come join us on the road to Montauk, plain and simple. We rely on our networks of friends and family to make each ride the best one ever. We've been doing it for so long that we have it down cold. The 5BBC Montauk Century ride is in our blood; when we go there, it's our home away from home. Whether you're a veteran or a first-timer, come join us!
