The Montauk Century 2009 Win a Bicycling Trip for Two to Brittany!
The prize trip to Brittany is sponsored by our partners BZH New York and the Brittany Tourism Bureau. Enjoy 4 days of beautiful cycling to historic sights, 2-star accommodations with warmth and character, and Brittany’s finest region cuisine (especially seafood). If you don't register for the Montauk Century, you won't be a winner. (Did you need another good reason to register?) Day 1 – ArrivalWe arrive in St. Malo in the late afternoon, followed by dinner and nightlife on the town. Day 2 – Boat Trip from St. Malo-Dinan: 53 miles
The first day of your cycling tour starts by…boat! We will cross St. Malo’s natural harbor. Looking back, you will see the stunning ramparts of the privateer town. Ahead of you is the natural beauty of the Emerald Coast. Upon arrival in the village of Dinard, your riding will begin along coastline studded with wild creeks and fishing villages. Some of the route is hilly but you won’t find it too hard. Along the road, you will come upon a medieval citadel which overlooks the Rance Valley, an outstanding site. Ending the first day of riding, you will enjoy dinner and 2-star accommodations in Dinan. Day 3 – Dinan–Mont Saint Michel: 50 miles
In the morning, we start pedaling along the small roads of rural Côtes d’Armor to the coast, highlighted by the stunning landscapes of the Mont Saint Michel. Peaceful and varied, the countryside features such megaliths as 30-foot-tall Champ Dolent, the region’s largest standing stone. The route is also exceptional for its gentle way of life, seen through wayside crosses, chapels, hamlets, and tiny villages. When we arrive at Mont Saint Michel, we will have lunch and a full tour. From there, we pedal to our night’s accommodations in Roz-sur-Couesnon. Day 4 – Mont Saint Michel–St. Malo: 53 miles
On this morning, we will cross Mont Saint Michel Bay on the flatlands between forests, long sandy beaches and salt marshes. By lunchtime, the group will arrive in Cancale, the region’s gastronomic capital. It’s especially famous for its oysters. After this indulgence, we head towards the superb coastal road. With its fascinating sights and breathtaking sea views, this is the perfect way to head to our final night in St. Malo, including a sumptuous dinner. Day 5 – DepartureThis is your last morning to enjoy the most of the winding, picturesque roads of the walled privateer town whose ramparts are surrounded by the clear turquoise sea. Trip Details
